These are the pale pastels

The last episode of the colourful exposé that was The abandoned brewery.
Next week my blogging goes back to how it once was.
---
Story:

This is where Heinrich, Berlin based urban exploration fan, takes all of his out of town:ers, "since it's so easy to break in". We had a beautiful day exploring nooks and corridors, halls and broken staircases, finally climbing up the roof drinking bubbles watching beautiful Berlin below us.

When Heinrich first found the brewery a year ago it was completely intact, with bottles and equipment in place, just like it was left in the 90's. Since then people posted its location online and it's been trashed, like Teufelsberg.

HIC SVNT LEONES

"The classical phrase utilized by ancient Roman and Medieval cartographers used to be HIC SVNT LEONES (literally, Here are lions) when denoting unknown territories on maps", Wikipedia dearest tells me.

This morning, before breakfast and coffee, I contemplate this year. Where it's been, where it's going. It feels like spring was a mellow start with long haul projects yet to pan out into a clear something something.

This autumn will have uncharted territories, possibly full of lions. Me and Glenn starting our own record label. Lots of hooks waiting for fishies and new hooks having to be prepped. Familiar conditions getting turned upside down, both by choice and necessity.

The tingle in my belly is getting worse.

Do you look forward to your autumn?

PS. I have a crush on this necklace - bodylace! - by Fannie Schiavoni at
Bon Vintage. Ooh, the high back. I wouldn't mind this with a simple white tee.
Maybe it's time to get an income?

Birthday Boy

I love these photos by Karolina Brobäck and Jonas Esteban Isfält, how the golden light hits our sculpturally handsome faces. They were taken at an early Snotty DJ-evening in the name of FlexiLiebe. (My, my hair was short.)

For some time I've looked immensely forward to this weekend.

Apart from us putting a DJ Flex in the night, tonight at Babajan, Katarina Bang 75, it's my lovely Glenn's birthday this weekend! His last birthday was a treat, with bubbles in the grass and a balaclava photo contest.

High quality celebrational silliness will be required.
Have a splendid weekend y'all!

Roll the dice in show

Saturday's Roll the dice concert at Voltfestivalen was a beautiful thing, the concert hall, the lighting, their outfits, the tunes. Three songs for half an hour felt like a beginning interrupted.

Sometimes I love being left longing for more.

The record that goes round and round

Autechre - Oversteps

Flying Lotus - Cosmogramma

Autechre - Move of Ten

Flying Lotus - Cosmogramma (again)

These covers intrigue me plenty, so simple and nice and precise. I'm very drawn to patterns and repetition, thin lines and the black and white. These rhyme with my mood, and the music is great as well!

Have a sweet weekend!

I'm thinking a barbecue and Voltfestivalen and making some Colouroïd nonsense. And sun. Lots of it please.

First up though is... the laundry.

Days of signs

Hanging out with Jocke and his mother.
Celebrating mother's day at the museum, watching strange amounts of plastic.
Hello modern day Anne of Green Gables.
Lamps light up in the trees as the evening deepens.
Summer reflecting in all the old concrete buildings.

Now I'll dive deep into the woods to see if what Yayoi set in motion is still at play.

Plimsoll and Kih-Oskh

The Plimsoll Line markings are so striking I had to google them a little. They remind me of the symbol of Kih-Oskh in Hergé's Cigars of the Pharaoh although it was "20/20 vision Glenn" who made me aware of the recemblance.

He's also pointed out that Stockholm based band Roll the dice sound like John Carpenters and Sigur Rós' love child. I have a crush on their version of Motorcycle Emptiness and hope to see them live at Volt Festival in Uppsala.

Life is rich.

My heart goes out to Karol the Barrel, bestest little beast in the wood.
Your luck will come around, lovechild.

Yayoi Kusama was right

"One day I was looking at the red flower patterns of the tablecloth on a table, and when I looked up I saw the same pattern covering the ceiling, the windows and the walls, and finally all over the room, my body and the universe. I felt as if I had begun to self-obliterate, to revolve in the infinity of endless time and the absoluteness of space, and be reduced to nothingness. As I realized it was actually happening and not just in my imagination, I was frightened. I knew I had to run away lest I should be deprived of my life by the spell of the red flowers. I ran desperately up the stairs. The steps below me began to fall apart and I fell down the stairs straining my ankle."

- Yayoi Kusama has said Wikipedia tells me.

The invasion of the polka dots, and ultimately the annihilation of the world, has begun in the forest. Summer is here.

The French North

The summer of 2000 me and my sister went to Paris. We stayed at a little hotel, in a room right under the rooftop. Fitted pink carpets covered the ceiling, walls and floor and you couldn't open the one window. Exhausted from the heat and lack of oxygen our stay at the hotel more or less resembled a Benny Hill show without a Benny Hill, with us dizzily rambling about in our birthday suits, from carpet to carpet.

In the reception a twitchy guy worked. He had tired eyes and seemed to be there 24/7. He introduced himself as Loke, jester of the Aesir.

When we returned home one day from a thunder storm I said to him:
By the way, we met your brother.

He didn't get it.
