Genuine

This is probably my one favorite movie flat in the world, the flat of the vampire and her lover the barber in Robert Wiene's "Genuine" (1920).
I haven't seen this film since it can only be watched in full at the Munich City Film Museum archive, but I'd love to.
I keep this pic close to heart - on the wall, right over my bed.

The Dumb Waiter

Yesterday we went to the old abandoned train tunnel where the theater group Tantoteatern have put up Harold Pinter's "The Dumb Waiter" (1957). It was great, the atmosphere of the damp cave, the two actors and the sparse set. I kept trying to echo the lines in English in my head.

HOME

(Can you spot the naked guy?)

Another look back at lovely Berlin.
In October we'll return ever so slightly. Can't wait!

Last day last minute shopping.

PS. Love this place.

Turkulainen

Photos from prancing about the last few hours of Turku, waiting for the boat home. Prancing? I was doing leaps and jumps, street musical style. The thought of being stuck on a boat over night put ants in my pants, nay tights, and I was doing a somber dance along the harbor line.

PS. The flea market Liedon Keskusta Kirppis in Lieto at the outskirts of Turku is quite alright. A cottage with two stories of junk, one junky part and one less junky where you can make a find.
I think this might be their web site, but then again I don't, well... cross the language barrier in style.

B-day

The day of the white sun Glenn and I got busy making grim gifts for Buster's birthday. Hours and hours of pure fun.

...and I will give you rest

This beautiful church, the biggest wooden church of the North
(and at one time of the world), is located in Kerimäki, Finland,
and so strangely modern in it's mild colours and light scheme.

Tranquil

This is the lake where my uncle learnt how to swim,
hidden deep deep in the heart of northern Karelia.

Ilola

A key hole in the wall. How very Coraline.

At this creaky inn we stayed one night in Savonlinna. A female artist owns it, and it's a beautiful slightly hippieish experience, with noisy plumbing, art books and poetry in the rooms, rusty art in the yard and excentric furniture. Thumbs up. The sturdy though surprisingly short beds were the best beds of the whole trip.

My mother, sister, uncle and I got the basement flat - two rooms, a kitchen and a bathroom. What you see is the bigger room that housed us womenfolk, and the yellow bit is the kitchen. I recommend!
