With a vengeance

From Märsta and back... with a vengeance!

Blogger is killing me with its' slowitude today.
Is it Blogger or my connection that's the beast?

For the record I must add I'm still in love with the snow.
I realize I might be the only one here in Sthlm.
I helped an old lady home from the shop today. She had wicked make up, super red glossy lips and green eye liner. And white hair. A looker. My poor mum can't even leave the house. It's not right.

Today has been a most inspiring day, I had a business meeting this morning, you never know what leads to what, but meeting up with inspiring, professional people is such a hoot. I was happy sweaty afterward and that's a proper happy feeling.

I forced myself to ta mitt pick och pack and go shopping for clothes afterward. I'd had that in my schedule for a week, Friday, go shopping. I don't like it much, trying things on and prancing about in boutiques, but I think I did well. A spring coat, a 20's style glitzy sweater, two skirts and a handbag shaped like a blue silky shell, with a gold shell locket. Most of it was second hand.

The coat needs alterations, I'll take it to my mother the seamstress that don't like sewing any more. In my mind I can hear her sigh already and make out her concentrated frown. We've already had two nervous phone conversations about the collar. (She's nervous, not I.)

That's what you get for making babies.
It's short and sweet and then there's trouble.

Skanskvarn

Skanskvarn is the last of Söder's original 35 mills. It's from 1850, and since 1930 a restaurant. At this spot, by Gullmarsplan, there has been restaurants since 1762 however, and the mill is supposedly haunted - of course, as it should be. It's one of my favorite places in Sthlm, with a perfect anachronistic urban view, as it's surrounded by tracks, streets, bridges, water and woods, at the very edge of Söder om Söder.

Three Vikings

Middle photo by Karolina Brobäck.

This post is also known as:
"Pretty girls like you can't take a bad picture."

On our way to Djungelfabriken in Gröndal.

This is the night when I swore in the street (I do enjoy my swearing) that the first name of any future child of mine would be József Törley. Sometimes it seems I just can't - or won't - help myself.

Two Dogs Cocktail

I let this pic taken outside Kyoto train station sum up our stay in Kyoto and also the pig flu scare.

Everywhere you went you'd find students in group, all clad in school gear and with masked faces.

Kyoto was lovely, I'd gladly go back, and I still think of our hotel room at Pension Station Kyoto fondly. In all its friendly floweriness it was the perfect setting for a music video or a horror flick with goldilocksy young women laughingly jumping up and down on the beds, wearing those kinds of long lacy white sleeping gowns that girls always wear when they get stabbed through the chest in 70's horror movies.

One of the many little shrines.

I have been told these creatures represent fertility. I'm not sure though.

If you feel lonely you can try this...

...or there is this, if you're of the more hands on, self reliant persuasion.

It seems you were right Karolina.

Uguisudani is the part of Tokyo where you find all the shops that sell to restaurants. Anyone can shop there, although sometimes you have to place an order and buy at least five of everything.

It proved to be a very bewildering and annoying place, a bit like Alice's wonderland.

It's fine as long as you're not hungry...

...but then you realize that all the food is artificial display food...

...and that all the alluring street menus are empty...

...and that there's nothing to eat in this restaurant orientated part of town. Finally we found a place that served the most appalling toast. You think you can't go wrong with toast? Guess again.

Lately I feel as though I've O.D:ed on photos and blogging ever so slightly. It's something I thought would never happen. Everywhere I turn there's a photo opp, something I usually have to look for or make in Sthlm, but in the last few days I've been reluctant to even point my camera and click. Sometimes it's nice to just look at stuff, without intent.

Arrival

The notorious foppa toffla has made its way to Japan...

This is my first day in Tokyo.
So far it's been moist and overwhelming, kind and crowded, huge and colorful/tiny and cute. We are resting safely on the top floor of a tiny house in a calm area of Tokyo. Our host is out DJ:ing and we are too tired to go.
Good night Tokyo. Tomorrow I'll whip out the good camera, not my regular tiny lazy ass one, I promise.
Kisses.
